Welcome to Keystone Military Families!
Volunteers proudly supporting the ENTIRE Military Family!

It is very easy to say we support our troops, it is another thing entirely to show you support them.

We are a 100% volunteer non profit organization. We provide support to deployed military and their families by sending letters & cards, personal care items, snacks and local favorites to the deployed personnel and logistical, economic support, and assistance to dependent families. We ship care packages all year and special packages upon request. Our family pantry currently is assisting 30+ families per week with food, clothing, baby necessities, and household goods. This support is also available to any PA veteran in financial crisis. All assistance is totally anonymous and we do not share any information with other agencies without specific permission.

Current Projects:

Our current needs are shipping funds for our 2014 Stockings for Soldiers campaign and food to keep our pantry full over the holidays. Last year we shipped about 5,900 stockings to troops serving all over the world. Our postage was almost $29,000 just for the shipping. We can also use any small size snacks and toiletries (not hotel bottles), hand and foot warmers, white calf high socks for men and women, sewing kits, manicure sets, hard candy & candy canes, plastic holiday decorations and 18" to 24" Christmas stockings. The full list for our 2014 Stockings for Soldiers campaign is posted in the care package section.

For our pantry we are looking for turkeys and hams, large cans of yams, frozen filling, stuffing mix, frozen rolls, and anything you would use for a traditional Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Our pantry can always use any shelf stable foods like rice, flour, sugar, condiments, canned veggies and fruit, cereal (we use about 40 boxes per week), oatmeal, snacks, taco kits, tuna, canned chicken, canned hams and powdered milk, paper goods, cleaning supplies and laundry supplies. We also appreciate grocery gift cards in any amount that will allow the families to pick up fresh vegetables, fruits and meat. We will have an everyday list and special holiday list posted in the Pantry section by October 1st.

We accept cards and letters for care packages so even if you can't help financially you can still be a part of our program and volunteers are always welcome and appreciated.

Please feel free to call or email with any questions. Phone: 610-698-2122 Email:

If you are in the military or have someone serving our country you would like added to our care package list or penpal list (or both) please send an email to: Keystone Military Families and we will make sure they receive some letters and packages. If there is something special they need please be sure to let us know in your email. We will do our very best to get it in their care package! If underwear or T-shirts are requested please include sizes. You are also welcome to send us photos of your soldier no matter where they are from or where they are serving. We will add it to our gallery and post it on our Wall of Fame in our office.

Military Family Pantry Basic Cooking!

Vernie Noecker has graciously volunteered to teach some of our veterans basic cooking techniques. With the help of a few others she will cover nutrition, budgeting and they just may change the way you think about food. This class is open to any veteran interested especially those who use our pantry. It will be 4 sessions in Nov & Dec. We hope you will join Vernie & Company for this very special program to help our veterans.
Dates are 11/05, 11/19, 12/3 & 12/17.

Classes will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on Zion Church Rd Shoemakersville, PA 19555 from 1pm to 3pm.

Anyone interested in joining can call 610-698-2122 to register. This is only so we have a count since there are only 15 spots available. One of our vets pointed out that the military doesn't teach you how to cook so staying on a budget and eating well is hard once you get out of the service. We hope this program will turn that around and get them on the road to healthy eating.

We are planning more programs for veterans and their families and really hope you will take advantage of the knowledge and the fun, caring community we have here.

Care Package Donation Collection

Penpals & Care Packages

We will be glad to help you put together a care package (or several!). This article will get you started and like all our articles on the website you can print this out to use as a guideline. Just click on the small printer icon at the bottom of the article for a printable page format.

First thing to do is visit our website and print out the current list of most needed items. We have a short list of urgent request items on our website and we update this list at least once or twice a month as the troops let us know exactly what they need. You can click on the link at the bottom of the article for a printable page format. We also list emergency requests on our Forum on the website. Click the Forum link in the top navigation bar and look for the Care Package Requests forum.

We need your full name, age, address and phone contact for our files. We also need to know the area of collection, dates you are collecting and date of dropoff. This information will be kept in our files for the safety and security of the troops. We do not sell or share your information.

If this is a group project you should distribute the list and set a collection date. Be sure to allow enough time for everyone to do their shopping! You might also want to print out a couple of our monetary donation forms for those who do not have time to shop or who would like to help with the postage costs. The link is on the right hand side of the website or I can email you a Microsoft Word document upon request. If you are doing this on your own just take the list shopping for the items you would like to include.

When all the items are collected simply pack them up and mail them to our packing office or deliver them to us and we will take it from there! Please package toiletries in different boxes than the food items. The smells can transfer to the foods and no one wants to eat snacks that smell like the soap. You can also pack the items in Ziploc bags to help keep them fresh. Our mailing address listed on the main page of the website and at the bottom of this article. We require 24 hours notice for drop off of collected items. We now have a new warehouse and have to schedule around other deliveries. All items are inspected in our office and packaged to go to the units that need them most.

We encourage you to include letters or cards with words of encouragement. You can add as many as you like and we will make sure they get delivered with your care packages. For some of our troops the letters are even more important than the contents of the package. The longer they are away from home the harder it is to remember that they have people here who support them.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or need more help! Our email is: Thank you for supporting our troops!

My son is a soldier...

General News

My son is a soldier

I can reveal this with pride

(the fear is hidden just below the surface, I confide).

He's a real American hero

Who believes in democracy

(yet there is an inner whisper that wants him here with me).

I am honored to be his mother

I brag of him through the day

(but I can't help but wonder if there isn't a better way?).

My son is a strong, brave soldier

Who says he's prepared to die

(he's not aware of the late night hours that I just sit and cry).

I wear a ribbon and a flag

Upon my collar every day

(but alone at night, I bow my head, for my baby boy I pray.).

I have no idea who the author of this poem is but I found it on another military mom's blog page and wanted to share it. It is a pretty close expression of my feelings and I am sure many other military parents in the U.S.
