Well folks, I promised you BIG news so here goes. We will have a new and permanent home in early Sept. Keystone Wounded Warriors is purchasing an office/warehouse in Shoemakersville, PA and has graciously asked us to share their space. Since our current building is for sale this seems to be the perfect solution. That means we will have services for our wounded troops, their families and the deployed all in one location.
Now in order to accomplish this move we are attempting to be as logical and well prepared as possible. We have already started packing the care package side of our operations so that means that we cannot ship many packages until after the move. Our moving priority will be the food pantry so that our families in need will not have to go very long without the pantry available. We have some tentative dates planned and these are subject to change based on some minor things being done to the new place. We plan to close at 1pm on August 16th. I want to encourage all our pantry families to come in before we close and get enough food for 2 weeks instead of one. Our plan is to reopen on Sept 2nd with the pantry operational and hopefully all areas ready to go. No matter what happens we will do our best to not go more than 2 weeks without the pantry available.
On Tuesday August 19th we will begin moving the shelving for the pantry and get it all in place. Then we will move the pantry food and appliances to the new location and begin stocking the shelves and do a full and complete inventory. Second priority will be to move the office furniture and equipment and get that placed so our internet can be installed. After all that is accomplished we will move the care package items. After everything is moved it will need to be unpacked and the shelves stocked so we are ready to begin the annual Stockings for Soldiers campaign. All of this is a bit overwhelming and a bit of a challenge but I know that we have the support of our friends and volunteers so it will get done. We will need lots of volunteers, trucks and patience to get through this. I also know that in order to continue our mission to serve our military, our veterans and their families this is the right time and the right move. Having a permanent home for our pantry will make many things much easier for our volunteers and those who use our services.
What's that? I didn't say where we are going? No I didn't! Guess you will just have to volunteer to find out. ;-) Or wait for our opening announcement....
